A year and a half ago, I discovered Charlaine Harris.
It started with True Blood, of course. Hubby convinced me to try watching it with him, and we got hooked. After tearing through season 1, and later season 2, thanks to Netflix, I decided to give the books a try.
I loved them -- even more than the show, though I initially didn't think that would be possible. At the time there were only 10 books out, and I read all 10 even faster than we'd finished the available TV episodes. I think it took me a week and a half to read all 10 books.
As much as I loved the Sookie Stackhouse series, I had been meaning to try Charlaine Harris's other series. A couple of weeks ago I noticed my library had added the first book of one of her newer series, Grave Sight, to their ebook catalog, and I decided to finally give it a try.
I should probably take a moment to note that I'm a huge fan of vampire fantasy. I have been since I discovered Anne Rice about 15 years ago, and the recent deluge of YA vampire books has simply fed my fascination. Grave Sight not being about vampires, I was pretty much guaranteed not to like it as much as the Sookie Stackhouse books, but I have to say I did really like it for what it was: a fast-paced mystery with a supernatural element (the young woma who finds dead people).
I do plan on reading the rest of the books in the series. A great diversion for anyone who is impatiently awaiting the next Sookie Stackhouse book, as I am!
